I have long been interested in skeletal structures and anatomy. Much of my recent work revolves around the age-old idea of “Memento Mori”, which is Latin for “Remember that you (have to) die”. I find it to be a unifying, humbling and motivating thought. I myself have an odd relationship with my own skeleton, having dealt with chronic illness most of my life, my childhood came with more X-rays than photographs of myself.

My work spans various materials and techniques throughout my career as an artist, but I’ve mostly found myself working with metal and glass. My latest work has largely focused around creating low relief carved “cameo style” glass objects. My flame worked pieces are curious and playful representations of imagined anatomy, but my most interesting works tend to be my collaborative ones. By “dissecting” my collaborators work via carving, I reveal the imagined anatomy. This process allows both myself and my collaborators to create pieces that we could never have attained on our own. Though sometimes dark, there is a consistent lighthearted nature to my work.

I enjoy looking within objects to discover their secrets and physical anatomy, aiming to create pieces that invite the viewer to investigate further, and awaken similar feelings of discovery as they explore the work.
